Female student forced into sexual act in Communications Building restroom

Update: According to an alert sent out, the student has retracted her statement.

Update: Dec. 5, 1:25 p.m. EC Police Chief Michael Trevis said as of Friday morning, the department does not know if the suspect is a student.

“We are still interviewing the victim and our hope is that the victim will recall enough details about his appearance so we can prepare a composite sketch of him that will help us to identify him,” Trevis wrote in an email.

Trevis added the department has assigned additional personnel “in and around the area.”

A female student reported to ECPD she was “coerced” into “engaging in oral copulation” in a restroom in the Communications Building Monday morning, according to a Crime Bulletin sent via email Thursday afternoon.

The woman met the male suspect on campus in October, according to the email. On Monday, the man allegedly took her into a men’s restroom between 8 and 8:30 a.m. to perform the act.

On Thursday, the woman contacted the El Camino Police Department about the crime, according to the email.

The suspect is described as half Caucasian and half African American and is approximately 30 years old. He is between 4’9″ and 5’1,” with “slightly longer than shoulder length hair.” He wears glasses, has a goatee, and carries a messenger style bag, according to the email.

The email included safety tips such as be aware of your surroundings, don’t walk alone and use cautious judgment.

The alert was also sent out via Nixle, the opt-in emergency text message system. To sign up for the system, text “ECCPD” to 888777.
