Many have heard about it, some have done it, and today, a leader at EC took part in it, too.

Ken Brown, vice president of the board of trustees, took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Wednesday after the Union staff nominated him last month.

Brown took the challenge sitting on a diving board at the Pool with an audience of student athletes gathered behind him.

“I’m challenging every one of the student athletes and the students at El Camino College and Compton Center. Not to do the ice bucket challenge,” Brown said, “but to get involved with either extracurricular activities, a campus activity, or something in the community.”

Brown said he participated in the challenge indoors at the Pool because of the state-wide drought and this week’s heat wave in Southern California.

Brown added he’ll be making donations to the Autism Society as well as the El Camino College Foundation.
