Warrior’s softball team gets double wins at Moorpark

The Warriors softball team won its doubleheader on Saturday against the Raiders of Moorpark (10-3) in the morning and Golden West (6-1) in the afternoon.

The game against Moorpark showed their perseverance after going down early, not only to get back into the game but to rack up the runs and keep defensive composure.

The game started slow as the first two innings were scoreless. It sparked into life offensively in the third though as Moorpark took an early 2-0 lead only for the Warriors to overturn it 3-2 in the key fourth inning. Seven more runs from El Camino made the final score 10-3.

Defensively, freshmen pitchers Danielle Bonsky and Tracy Huerta had great games only allowing five hits and getting four strikeouts between them in the first match.

Offensively, Victoria Garcia also had an outstanding outing as she recorded a double and RBI of her own. Danielle Bonsky added a double to her RBI and Jessica Gonzalez and Kathy Orozco added a RBI of their own.

The Golden West match proved more one-sided as key runs in the second and third innings clinched a comfortable victory for the Warriors.

Reina Trejo absolutely dominated this game with a homerun, two RBIs and a double as the Warriors’ early lead proved insurmountable.

Still 0-0 after two innings, the Warriors scored two runs in the third and added another three in the third to go up 5-0 early. It was clear sailing from there as each team scored just once a piece before the end to make the final score 6-1.

Taylor Karp had a homerun of her own in the match to add to the offensive onslaught. Samantha Lauro and Danielle Bonsky also pitched and allowed only seven hits and one run between them.

The Warriors’ record improved to 3-1 before their next game on Tuesday against Fullerton at El Camino.
