Men's tennis team bounces back with a shutout

With its first win of the season, the men’s tennis team responded to its home opener loss with a shutout victory over Cypress College last Thursday.

“These opponents weren’t as competitive as the last opponents, sophmore, tennis player Anthony Ya said. “We felt we did better this time, fixed some things, although they’re more things we can fix, but overall I think we did great.”

No. 1 doubles partners Britton Henricksen and Ya made some adjustments to help propel them to a victory, 8-1.

“I’m not messing up on my serves a lot. I’ve decided to take a lot more cautious measures and not to double fault or not to miss both of my serves,” Ya said.

No. 1 tennis player Whitney Reed, credits proper nutrition and being on time to the improvements in his game. Reed won his singles sets, 6-1, 6-1.

“Eating before the match, showing up on time, getting more practice time and listening to my coach is what help me do better in today’s game,” Reed said.
